Courts's Merch '16 / photos by Rhys Cox

Courts is an unconventional band from Basildon, Essex. A group that produces a sound that is raw, significant and it is something that's just purely engaging.

I've found for a long time that Essex is lacking a real and wide music scene. This idea has changed after listening to Courts. The band has been doing their thing for a while and have refined their sound to bring something certainly new and refreshing here. It's very seldom that you find a band you can genuinely say is unique. Courts have not failed and still continue to spread the fresh funky noise of the west cost to the UK east coast.

They have done really well and earned great recognitions this year - a huge one from Elton John, for example.

NME has spoken words that could not be more precise, describing their successes.
"Courts, a five-piece from Basildon, Essex have only released three singles to date, but they've got a big fan in Elton John. Rocket Man himself played the boys’ new single ‘Glass Half Empty’ on his Beats Radio show last week, exposing their music to a gigantic audience."
"Trying to summarise Courts music is almost futile - it’s a graceful blend of JME’s furious vocals and Jamie T’s witty observations, mixed effortlessly with the funky guitar/bass combo of Chic." - NMEread more at
MTV also said,
"Reminding us of an early Arctic Monkeys meets The Streets, from their bold attitude, infectious tracks and rock star looks, Courts literally have every quality needed to become the next big phenomenon in music." read more at

Keep up with Courts.

Cosy In Pink

Happy #TBT!

Here's to one damp day when I met my pal Mo and had an impromptu shoot as we always do. Things went pretty well until files were lost. You know, these things to the best of us but hoorah! We did manage to salvage a bunch of them.

Anyway, I'd like to know something. What other hip terms are there excluding the word 'cosy' that define a comfortable cool aesthetic and lifestyle? Please do feel free to suggest anything as I feel like I'm stuck with the word and "the world" of 'cosy'. Although it's not necessarily a bad thing, I am overusing this adjective. It just sums up the best things in life. Ugh, I can't help it! I can not help and dress this way.

My addiction with pins is one other thing that can't really be ceased. I have added more to my collection and I am building it up till... I don't know. Forever? I don't want to be the bad (or best) person here but if you are up for getting pinfluenced, check out Pin Lord, one of my favourite instagrams ever. There, you can get your daily dose of happy pin times.

Dr. Martens is great - the products, it's rebellious culture and love for self-expression. I used to love it dearly.

Here's a fact! 5 years ago, all I'd ever rock is a pair of black Dr. Martens '1460' boots. I wore them consecutively for a year or so. It was as if the boots were part of my identity. It was that serious. By that I mean quite pathetic but none of that even matters. I've rekindled my infatuation for its leather & air-cushioned aesthetic. I am certainly enjoying this 'Vintage 1460' pair in oxblood the most. Tough, playful, chunky - I am all about it. They'll be worn a heck of a lot too for sure.

5 Preview

Oh hello there cool kid by the bin!

Always rockin that #DD ...

#DoubleDenim #DamnDaniel ? (yeah, lol)

Are you as rad & ragged as this wall?

Right! This isn't even close to a mini preview of my day, but here's what it's like when I start one as chill as ice. (hmmm, icy! you know, that's way chill).

The day won't begin until I got all my necessities and other random bits and bobs with me. This is why I can't get enough of this little "carryall" from 5 Preview - a leather tote you can turn into a rucksack - the sweetest love affair of a bag. It fits way more than what I need in a day. So, Ugh! Right now, I can't even look at my other bags the same. Unfortunately, I snapped the last one that they've ever made (in other words "have in stock", hehe). Sorry guys!

I hope you enjoyed these shots of me hanging around my gritty little town and my slighlty messy chamber. Kudos to Rhys Cox for the photos.

The Shooter Tee

Last week, I talked about SCRT and their collaboration with Bob Mazzer (check here). Here's another casual look I've styled. The 'legs' t-shirt and this 'shooter' long-sleeves are my faves.
